Top 5 Best Playstation 4 Games of All Time

On the eve of what many gaming industry observers refer to as a console generation, which will see new hardware from both Sony and Microsoft being unveiled soon.

Rockstar’s re-release of GTA V eclipses previous-gen versions with stunning visuals and larger online multiplayer matches, in addition to offering first-person mode making this open world game unlike any other.

1. Resident Evil 2 Remake

Resident Evil 2 Remake stands as one of the most highly praised remakes ever, being an acclaimed survival horror classic that was lovingly rebuilt using Capcom’s RE Engine with stunning results – real time cutscenes and 60 frames per second are only among many technical improvements over its PlayStation and N64 original counterparts.

The game also boasts several gameplay adjustments that keep it feeling fresh. Puzzles have been updated for modern audiences and there’s been an increased focus on environmental detail; all with care taken by the development team not to retread old ground. Furthermore, performance modes provide additional options for those wanting the same quality while maintaining some frame rate flexibility.

Resident Evil 2 Remake seems designed for the Playstation 4 from the get-go; its development team appears to have taken great care to implement upgrades judiciously and achieve this effect with graphics upgrades. This shows through in its development pace.

This version features improved textures, filtering and lighting model enhancements as well as higher resolution graphics on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X with 30fps option available to those who prefer the classic look of the series. In three player co-op mode you can also choose Leon, Claire or Sherry Birkin campaigns!

Reimagining their characters has been at the core of this remake; Leon and Claire each having their own campaign within Raccoon City Police Department to explore. You’ll experience both sides of the conflict simultaneously within one playthrough; its captivating narrative keeps players coming back for more, with numerous side missions keeping them coming back for more!

2. Persona 5

Shin Megami Tensei fans often consider Persona 5 their favorite entry in the series. Persona 5, as one of its latest RPG installments, takes an approach similar to “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” when it comes to its gameplay systems; improving upon turn-based battle and dungeon crawling systems from prior entries in addition to providing newcomers an easier entryway into this rich RPG franchise.

Games

Persona 5 offers one major difference over Persona 4, however: social gameplay. Joker, the protagonist of Persona 5, moves to Tokyo where they must form relationships and perform tasks to increase their social statistics. While this aspect may not appeal to people new to Persona games as much, it certainly represents an improvement over Persona 4, which was much less transparent in this respect.

Persona 5 is an enormously ambitious and enjoyable game, regardless of its social component. Packed with so much content that will keep players busy for months in-game; from attending school and killing off baddies in Palace Dungeons after classes to fulfilling optional requests from NPCs to working part time jobs and spending time with your Confidants; there is so much going on that it may initially seem overwhelming!

Persona 5 stands out among its many rivals due to its compelling and memorable soundtrack. Each song in Persona 5 stands up well against any other video game’s track list; creating an experience unlike any other that will leave you singing along to Tokyo in the Rain as Beneath the Mask plays through your headphones!

3. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Metal Gear Solid V stands out from other games in its series by taking itself seriously, unlike previous attempts from Hideo Kojima that often included silly hide-and-seek mechanics. Here, however, is a sprawling war machine which creates moment-by-moment thrills that rival anything produced by an experienced film director.

The Phantom Pain’s systems – which effectively turn it into a business simulation where you control a team of soldiers and drones – are impressively detailed and complex, and their integration to create a smoothly metaphorical engine is impressive. Voice acting is spot-on; even when its story veers toward tonal confusion (due to mixing serious points about military-industrial complex with supernatural characters who can jump buildings), Kojima’s skill in weaving intelligent humor with magical elements into luxurious game-making remains undeniable.

But The Phantom Pain can be difficult to master. It requires precise movement and careful management of noise output, while its missions often come across as unforgiving – especially towards the second part of its story when repeated missions at increasingly difficult difficulty settings dampen their impact.

From a visual standpoint, the PS4 version of The Phantom Pain looks beautiful. While Xbox One users reported resolution issues when playing MGSV: GZ, The Phantom Pain’s 1600×900 Fox Engine lets it show its full force with stunning clarity. NVIDIA even released a comparison report between Sony and Xbox platforms and how well each handles graphics in The Phantom Pain; Sony came out ahead by far!

4. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

Playstation 4 gamers are in for an action-adventure treat! First released on 10 May 2016, this action-adventure video game gives players the experience of controlling treasure hunter Nathan Drake as he travels around to find all sorts of worldly treasures while dodging enemies – making this an extremely thrilling and captivating adventure! Packed full of exciting and enjoyable features.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is the fourth and final installment in the critically-acclaimed Uncharted series. This game follows Nathan Drake as he travels around the globe searching for historical pirate Captain Henry Avery’s fortune buried deep within. Players travel through Panama, New Orleans, Italy, Scotland’s Highlands and Madagascar before making their final stop: Madagascar.

The game boasts an abundance of exciting and captivating gameplay elements, from intense combat, set pieces, character progression and captivating narrative to its stunning visuals that showcase exotic locales and stunning landscapes.

Uncharted 4 is an exceptional gaming masterpiece and should be included on every PlayStation 4 owner’s hard drive. It offers an exciting multiplayer mode for up to four players to team up and compete against one another across various modes, while being highly scalable as you can choose different resolutions and frame rates when playing it. Furthermore, Sony Dual Sense Haptics provide additional feedback during shooting, environmental interaction and climbing action as well as dynamic lighting effects, pre-computed global illumination simulation and advanced physics simulation for added realism and visual spectacle!

5. Sleeping Dogs

Sleeping Dogs wasn’t the first open world crime simulator on PS4, but it remains an exceptional title and is undeniably one of its finest entries. Set in Hong Kong and full of surprises even veteran narrative junkies will find surprising, its stellar cast (such as Will Yun Lee as Wei Shen) brings them to life while the gameplay itself offers smooth hand-to-hand combat with satisfying weighty gunplay as well as environmental attacks (such as driving someone into a fish tank or hanging them from meat hooks) which provide hours of entertainment.

Two years later, its remaster is even more beautiful, boasting shimmering water reflections and an authentic take on city nightlife that looks even better at sunset or when rain begins to fall. Unfortunately, however, many side activities in this game don’t feel fully fleshed-out; most activities should mostly be completed so collectibles can appear on your map rather than for their own intrinsic merits.

As the first console to bring cinematic storytelling to the masses, Playstation 4 has seen some incredible games since its release. Offering cutting-edge visuals and gameplay experiences with incredible games like Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes or modern day reinterpretations of classic series or revisiting Crash Bandicoot trilogy there’s bound to be something on Playstation 4 to take your fancy – it’s surefire way to reminisce. Now with PlayStation 5 approaching it is an excellent opportunity to reflect back on all that made Playstation special!
